ASLTC will boycott Presd. Elections PDF Print E-mail
All Sri Lanka Tamil Congress has decided to notify the voters in the North and East to boycott the upcoming presidential election. Tamil Congress, which is a constituent party in TNA, has taken the above decision before TNA takes its own decision on the issue.

A special general meeting chaired by Vinayagamoorthy, leader of the party was held day before yesterday at its party office, Jaffna where around 75 members were present. Vinayagamoorthy has not agreed to the boycott and the boycott decision is taken as per the wishes of Gajendrakumar Ponnambalam, secretary, All Sri Lanka Tamil Congress, it is learnt.

But the retired high court Tamil judge C V Vignaraja was the view that there is no benefit either boycotting the upcoming presidential election or casting votes to a Tamil candidate. By doing this, it will be assumed that the Tamil voters have indirectly supported someone at the presidential poll or Tamils have skipped up their voting rights said the judge. He pointed out such actions they would only forego their democratic rights. He urged the TNA and Anandasangaree to expose their decision on the presidential election soon.
