The Divine Eyes of the US PDF Print E-mail
From the Editors of Sri Lanka Watch. The US, who are the self appointed watch dogs of the world, seemed to be watching any so called human rights violations in the world with an overly keen interest in the hope of bringing the alleged perpetrators to justice.

The War Crimes Office of the US State Department, lists 170 offences between May 2 and 18 this year, during the final phase of ground assault on the LTTE and they are in the process of tabling this report to the US Senate.

The US alleges that thousands of Tamil civilians were killed due to being used as human shields or, in what the report calls, indiscriminate government shelling. The US wants Sri Lanka to act on its findings.
The controversial report is based mostly on internal reports to Washington from the US Embassy in Colombo, satellite imagery, international relief organisations and a section of the media.

Human Rights and Disaster Management Minister Mahinda Samarasinghe yesterday said that the US report had no legal basis. Addressing a press conference at the Presidential Secretariat yesterday, the Minister said that an independent committee would be set up within a week to inquire into the report.
Even this amount of corporation should not be extended to studying or investigating such baseless reports.

Is this the way to treat a nation that had the courage to rise above evil without succumbing to it?
Can there be any government in this world who does not realize that if terrorism is the number one threat to the world, today, any attempts to save the human rights of terrorists would end up destroying the human rights of the entire human civilization?

Will the US have the courage to look in their own back yard for human rights violations in Iraq and in Afganistan?

Hunam Rights is highly important. But no matter which country is trying to protect the human rights of terrorists, they must first have ready answers for the civilized citizents of this world, whose lives are put at risk day in and day out by these outlaws. These hypocritical states can go a few steps further and can build a media network that exclusively serves propaganda needs of the terrorists, they can also create a terrorist friendly culture and then create universities that would produce highly trained terrorists. The surprising fact is that, other than the creation of  universities for the terrorists, the pro LTTE propaganda networks and the pro LTTE culture is already existent within and without Sri Lanka. It is these faculties and not their military might that made the LTTE the most powerful terrorist outfit in the world.

The disruption of civil life in Sri Lanka was just one crime the Tamil Tigers are guilty of, they brought about violent death to many thousands, and they misled their own people for 30 long years. The money that was syphoned out of the Tamil Diaspora was utilised to buy arms, ammunition and even airplanes and ships, and if anyone thinks they could have been defeated by an army that is similar to that of Gen MacArthur's, let us tell you that it would have been as detrimental as sending an army equipped with swords and daggers to fight a modern 20th century war.

The armed forces of Sri Lanka not only knew the weaknesses and strengths of their foes but also knew that the enemy is not as venomous as it looks. Sri Lanka also had a political leadership that could not be fooled by their tears any longer. Hence, they were able to decisively annihilate an international terrorist organization, for the first time in recent history.

It is not only the right of the Tamils, but the right of every citizen of Sri Lanka, be they Sinhala, Muslim or Burgher to enjoy this  long deserved peace. It is also the right of all communities living in the world including even the ones living in the US and Europe.

It is not becoming of civilized men to hinder this freedom.
