22 LTTE ers charged in France. PDF Print E-mail
French Police on Criminal affairs have filed legal action against 22 Tiger agents in France, including French Tiger leader Navarajah Maditharan, for collecting 10 million Euros from Tamils living in France and sending it to the Tiger organization. Their lawyer Gilles Pikungus has argued that since the Sri Lankan govt did not proscribe the LTTE until 2007, his clients should be released. But the Paris courts have rejected this argument. Investigations have revealed that the French Tiger network has deployed 200 extortion collectors named French Tamil Coordinating Committee to collect some five million euros (US $ 7.4 million) from the country’s 75,000 Tamils.
